Amber’s Army

Amber’s Army, Inc. was created to honor Amber Rebecca Parker, who after a courageous fight, succumbed to ovarian cancer in 2018. Although Amber’s life ended far too soon, she is remembered for her giving heart, her grace, and her desire to help others. She touched many during her life, and through the work of Amber’s Army her legacy will live on.

It has been over three years since Amber passed away. She battled her cancer with grace, dignity, and courage. Our lives continue here on Earth knowing that she is no longer suffering. With our faith, our family, and our friends, we move forward.  Each of you, in your own special way, lifts us up and carries us forward.

Amber’s Army, Inc. is growing and doing great things in her memory. The annual golf tournament and other donations make it possible to award scholarships to deserving high school seniors. Also, contributions are given to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance and to the Small Cell Ovarian Cancer Foundation.  The work of Amber’s Army, Inc. continues today and beyond.

We miss Amber more than words can describe. Her love and her spirit will always be with us.

We laugh, we cry, and we know God is with us.

Amber’s Story

Amber loved life and always had a smile on her face. She loved to cheer and dance since the day she could walk. She spent 15 years dancing for Star Struck Dance Studio on numerous competition teams, her high school years cheering for the East Lincoln Mustangs, and her college years dancing for the Western Carolina Catamounts. Amber was still currently involved in coaching the East Lincoln JV cheerleading team.

Amber always had a giving heart so it was no surprise to those closest to her when she went to Western Carolina for Hospitality and Tourism Management. After school, she went on to work in the hospitality industry and had just started her own event planning business.

On May 7, 2018, Amber had surgery to remove a malignant tumor that was attached to her right ovary and colon. Shortly after pathology reports came back Amber was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive type of Ovarian Cancer. After meeting with her doctors in Charlotte and Duke University Cancer Center as well as consulting with M.D. Anderson in Houston, TX, NYU and the Mayo Clinic, at that time they put together a very aggressive treatment plan. Her doctors went ahead with the plan to go at it with “heavy artillery” and hit it with a “full-court press.” However, God had other plans for Amber as she lost her fight on November 18, 2018.

Amber’s Army, Inc. was created to honor Amber Rebecca Parker and although Amber’s life ended far too soon, she is remembered for her giving heart, her grace, and her desire to help others.
